Speaker Series: Dr. Andreas Laupacis

Speaker: Andreas Laupacis, MD, MSc, FRCPC

Join us on April 24 or 25, 2018 to hear about how Patient Involvement in Health Services and Health Research is influencing Ontario’s Health and Hospital sectors and how this will influence HSN’s and HSNRI’s future strategic directions.

Dr. Laupacis is a general internist and the Executive Director of the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. He is a Professor at the University of Toronto in the Faculty of Medicine and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation.

He has published over 370 peer-reviewed articles covering a variety of topics in clinical epidemiology, health services research, health technology assessment and health policy. He engages the public about health care issues (he founded the websites www.healthydebate.ca, www.facesofhealthcare.ca), and holds a Canada Research Chair in Health Policy and Citizen Engagement. In April 2018, he will become Lead, Patient Involvement in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

He has served on numerous academic and governmental advisory committees and currently is the board chair for Health Quality Ontario. Dr. Laupacis has been awarded the Justice Emmett Hall Laureate (2010), the Health Services Research Advancement Award from the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation (2011), was the inaugural recipient of the CIHR’s Barer-Flood Prize in Health Services and Policy Research (2013) and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (2015).
